Silicosis (Silicosis)

  DEFINITION
Silicosis (Silicosis) is a respiratory disease caused by inhaling silica dust, which causes inflammation and scarring of the lungs.
There are three types of silicosis:

1. Simplex chronic silicosis, caused by small amounts of silica dust exposure in the long term (more than 20 years).

Nodules of chronic inflammation and scarring caused by silica is formed in the lungs and chest lymph nodes.

2. Akselerata silicosis, occurs after exposure to the amount of silica more during a shorter time (4-8 years).

Inflammation, formation of scar tissue and symptoms occur more quickly.

3. Acute silicosis, silicosis caused by exposure in a number of very large, in a shorter time.

The lungs are very inflamed and filled with fluid, causing severe shortness of breath and low blood oxygen levels.
In simplex and akselerata silicosis can occur fibrosif progressive massive. Fibrosis is due to the formation of scar tissue and cause damage to normal lung structures.
